Dead wood – a tree's second life
A fallen log is not the end of a tree, but the beginning of a new home. Children pull out cards hidden in the log and discover the birds, insects, amphibians, mammals and fungi that live in dead wood and feed on it.

How it works
Cards describing the inhabitants of dead wood are hidden inside the log. Children pull them out one by one and find out who uses the decaying tree: as shelter, as a nesting site or as food.
A board with fifteen photos of species works like a quiz: children point to their answers with a bird-shaped stylus, and lights next to the photos show whether they got it right.
