Life cycle of a tree
An interactive nature journey designed as a hands-on mechanical maze where participants guide an acorn (seed sphere) through the challenging labyrinth of a tree's life. The exhibit dynamically illustrates the environmental factors, interspecies dependencies, and natural hazards that determine whether a tiny seed successfully grows into a mature forest giant.

How it works
Manual gravity maze: Players control a circular tilting table, maneuvering it smoothly in all directions to guide the rolling seed-ball along the designated course.
Evading traps and hazards: The maze features integrated trap-holes and bypasses representing genuine threats to trees (including forest fires, insect pests, and drought).
Biological milestone progression: Successfully clearing obstacles corresponds to consecutive stages in the tree's lifespan – from germination and sapling development to maturity and sustainable timber utilization.
Ecosystem interconnections: Illustrates factors governing tree survival (such as birds controlling caterpillars, light gaps created by fallen trees, and soil moisture access).
Technical data
| Format and target age Educational exhibit designed for visitors aged 6 to 99; suited for individual practice as well as collaborative group play. | |
| Construction and mechanics Freestanding console featuring a multidirectional tiltable circular tabletop, maze track, and central graphic display protected beneath a transparent faceplate. | |
| Utilities 100% manual and gravity-driven; requires no electrical power or utility infrastructure (optional display illumination: 230V). |
Safety and service
- Maze surface sealed under an impact-resistant transparent shield (polycarbonate/acrylic), preventing ball loss and keeping hands clear of moving elements
- Smooth rounded-edge casing
- Tilt mechanism equipped with mechanical travel limiters to prevent finger entrapment
